Ready to Read!

On our way home from Maryland, Malachi asked to see his books. He has Hop on Pop completely memorized (it's currently his favorite) and we quickly realized that he was going through, looking at each page and "reading"! Unfortunately he was talking too quietly for much to be heard on the video and he refused to talk louder...he said he was reading to himself! I have a feeling that traveling will be much easier in a few years when he really is able to read!

Meet the Team!

We had Meet the Team today to kick off Little League season. Malachi is playing T-ball on the Dodgers and Erik is the coach. Malachi was so excited to put on his uniform, and I must say that he is very possibly the cutest T-ball player ever! He also has fun calling his daddy "Coach!"

Recent Adventures

In true Allsop fashion, we have been incredibly busy lately so here's a look at a few of our adventures from last week!

These are two of the four cake orders I had last week. The daisy, my first cupcake-cake, was made especially for Grace's 5th birthday. (She is the blond girl in the pictures from Malachi's birthday party.) The other cake is the largest order of my career to date. It was for a 20th birthday celebration for the Fraternal Housing Corporation of Delta Gamma and served 370 people!
On Saturday we drove to Denton, Maryland, to visit Jessica, Austin and Whitney (Erik's sister, nephew and niece). Kevin and Becky were also visiting and the fun started immediately with a cake to celebrate Erik's 29th birthday. Whitney and Austin had a great time decorating their masterpiece, Whitney did the top half and Austin did the bottom. Uncle Erik felt very special and loved...just like he is!
On Sunday we visited St. Michaels, a quaint town on the Chesapeake Bay. Whitney caught a Malachi-fish there and then the kids found a playground...what more could you ask for?
We spent the day in Washington D.C. on Tuesday. We visited the monuments first, and you can see that Malachi wasn't a huge fan of sightseeing or taking pictures...all he wanted to do was go see the dinosaurs! Whitney, Malachi and Austin at the Lincoln Memorial with the Washington Monument in the distance. Malachi, Erik and Erin at the WWII Memorial.
Here we are on our way to the museums, finally! Malachi, Erik and Becky at the Washinton Monument with the Capitol Building in the background.
He was a much happier boy once we made it to the Natural History Museum!
Yaya couldn't resist a ride on the carousel with her grandchildren! Don't let Austin's look of indifference fool you - he really did like it!
We saved the best for last - the Air and Space Museum was a favorite for everyone!
Thank you, Jessica, for all the wonderful dinners and your hospitality in general! Thank you, Whitney and Austin, for playing with and taking care of Malachi! And a special Thank You to Austin for giving up his bedroom for a few days so that we would have a comfortable place to sleep!

Baby!

Many of you already know, but for those of you who haven't yet heard, the Allsops are expecting another baby! My due date is November 2nd, which means I only have about one more week in the first trimester - thank goodness! So far things seem to be going very well, and because of that, morning (more like all day!) sickness has been pretty strong. Malachi even came up and hugged my legs while I was getting sick the other day and said, "Make sure you don't spit out the baby, Mommy!" He's already turning into Mommy's little helper - running to get tissues for me as soon as I beeline to the bathroom!

Easter baskets and Easter eggs

Today we found out that Malachi enjoys Easter egg hunts even more than coloring eggs! Even though he loved the egg hunts, baskets, candy, etc., he did also learn the true meaning of Easter. Out of the blue at lunch today he said, "Did you know God died on the cross and rose again?" Praise God that our children can understand the basics of our faith.

Happy Easter!

We spent Saturday evening at Grammy Litter's with lots of family. After a delicious dinner we had an Easter egg coloring contest...I'm not sure who had the most fun - the teens/young adults or Malachi!
We also had some S'meeps - thanks to Heather's yummy idea on her blog. You can see how much Malachi enjoyed them!

Congrats, Erik!!

Erik is going to Boston!!
Erik ran the Athens Marathon yesterday morning in 3:04:58, which qualifies him to run in the Boston Marathon! He finished 11th overall and 3rd in his age group (Males 25-29). We are so proud of him for accomplishing this goal and can't wait to make the trip to see him in Boston on April 19, 2010 - just 2 days after he celebrates his 30th birthday! Go Erik!!

Crazy Weather

We had a beautiful day today - sunny and 76 degrees. We knew it was supposed to rain this evening, but shortly after the rain began we heard a strange noise and looked outside to see this:

Malachi had been on a Gator ride earlier with GranMols (luckily she brought him home in the car) and he was very excited about the ice balls that were falling from the sky! He kept asking to play with ice the rest of the night!
