Hard Work Pays Off!

Erik ran his first marathon of 2010 this morning - the "Last Chance for Boston" marathon in Dublin, Ohio. He's been working really hard these past couple of months to get in his best running shape ever and it definitely paid off! Elliott cheered Daddy on at his first marathon experience.
Malachi didn't understand why we'd want to be outside in the cold if we couldn't play in the snow!
The course was a 1-mile loop. Here Erik is beginning mile 25.
Mile 26 - last lap! The clock in the picture says 2:54, but his official time was 2:52:50. He came in 2nd place overall!
Way to go Erik! We're so proud of you!

"High School"

Last night was Stockholder's, the annual youth group fundraiser at church. This year's theme was "High School." The event was complete with cafeteria lunch trays, lunch ladies (and guys) serving dinner as you go through the line and lots of people in any high school gear they could find and fit back into! After dinner there was a dance off where nominated couples had to dance on stage to music popular during their high school days followed by a play put on by the students. Honestly I think this was the best one yet! Erik and I are so blessed to be able to help out with the youth group and love being part of the students' lives.

Malachi enjoyed running around church in his Paint Valley t-shirt and seeing everyone wearing their school colors. While eating his snack before bed he said, "Mommy, I love you. But I really like it when you wear your cheerleader stuff!"

Check this out!

First of all, if you've never been to etsy.com, you need to check it out. It is one of my favorite online sites and I browse it regularly. But yesterday it suddenly got better! How? Well, my friend Heather now has her very own store on Etsy to sell her great handmade cards. Seriously, they are a bargain and are perfect to have on hand for special occasions. They also make great gifts!

Here's the link to Heather's store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/hday22. Good luck, Heather! I'm excited to see how your hobby takes off!

Snow Day Fun

So we've had a bit of snow. So much, in fact, that we aren't out running around like we usually do!
GranMols saved the day (for me, at least) and came down to play outside with Malachi. I stayed inside to play with Elliott and make homemade noodles for dinner.
After an hour outside - seriously! - Mom was able to talk Malachi into coming back in and warming up. They had fun and I think Frosty will be around for a while. This afternoon Malachi and I got crafty and made some valentines for his friends. He made robots for the boys and flowers for the girls. He practiced using scissors to cut out all the hearts and the robot bodies. He also had to sign his name on the back of each one. He's getting pretty good at writing and cutting!

3 Months Old!

Elliott is three months old today!
Wow, how time flies. He's such a good baby it seems like he's been a part of our family forever, although it's hard to believe it's already been three months. Funny how that can be.
He is sleeping all night, eating every four hours during the day, napping well and laughing any time Malachi is nearby. He's still learning to hold his head steady - good thing his isn't as large as Malachi's was! He sucks his thumb, or to be more specific as much of his hand as he can fit into his mouth! He's recently discovered his hands and likes to watch them move around. He also likes to watch the mobile that is above his crib. His giggle makes me tear up every time (it's my favorite sound in the world!) and I love how he smiles when Erik gets home. We are so thankful for this precious boy!
