First Trip to the Dentist

Since Malachi's appointment had to be cancelled because he's in Tennessee with 'Buelo and Yaya, Elliott went to the dentist with me yesterday. Miss Jill said it's never to early to stress the importance of good oral hygiene, so she gave Elliott his very first toothbrush. I'm sure that will come in handy when he starts getting some teeth!

Happy 4th Birthday, Malachi!

Today was a day that Malachi has been anticipating for quite a while. We had a wonderful day full of special memories. First of all, Yaya and 'Buelo came to visit for the weekend - which was also greatly anticipated. We began our morning with a special breakfast ordered by Malachi - French toast. After breakfast Malachi got to play in the basement with his trains - his favorite activity, which is even better with people who will play along! Next was lunch followed by a short hike in our woods. Everyone rested a bit in the afternoon in order to restore energy for the birthday party....and what a party it was! We had lots of friends, lots of food, lots of cake, lots of Thomas, lots of noise...well, you get the idea!

Thank you so much to all our family and friends who made this day so special for Malachi and the rest of us. We love you all so much!

Malachi's Map

Malachi's homework assignment for KinderMusik this week was to make a map. He chose to draw a map from his house to Yaya and 'Buelo's house in Tennessee. He doesn't normally like to sit and draw, so I was pretty impressed when he came up with this!

Miss Adeline

Adeline got to spend a couple of days with GranMols and Papaw last week so she came over and played with Malachi and Elliott one morning. We had lots of fun and are excited to see her again in a couple days!

Elliott's Big Day

Today Elliott was introduced to cereal and seemed to really like it! He kept trying to grab the spoon and smiled the whole time. Malachi wasn't impressed by the rice cereal and kept asking why babies liked to eat yucky things!Elliott's also been rolling over quite a bit lately so I decided to try and capture his moves on video. After a few misses I did manage to get it, but this video was so cute I decided to show it too.

Here's the video of him rolling. Sorry it's kinda long - I decided to tape until he did it this time. You can see he's quite proud of himself!

Spring's On Its Way!

How do we know Spring's almost here?
1. Malachi got to fly a kite today.
2. Elliott was able to be outside with us without being all bundled up.
3. Erik cut his hair.
Check out the pile of hair in Malachi's wheelbarrow!Malachi watched the whole time and told Erik he looked like Uncle Blake (with a beard) when he finished!
4. Malachi discovered one of the advantages of being a boy....peeing in the grass! I didn't think a picture of this would be appropriate, but here's Elliott's reaction when Malachi came really close to spraying him (he doesn't have much control of his aim yet) and Erik and I couldn't stop laughing!

4 Months!

Elliott turned 4 months old this Thursday! He's a really pleasant little guy and we can't believe the past 4 months have gone by so quickly.
He continues to nap well and sleep 12 hours at night, which makes me incredibly thankful. When Elliott's awake he loves to be able to see all the action around him. He watches Malachi all the time and laughs at him a lot. He's starting to play in his jumperoo and sit in his Bumbo chair more often.
Malachi likes to watch Elliott "swim" when he's on his belly. He won't prop himself up with his arms to look around much, instead he kicks his legs and moves his arms until he gets tired. He then just gives up and rests a bit before doing it all again. Smiling all the while, of course.
Elliott has rolled over a few times, although we've never actually witnessed the big milestone. We just find him in a different position when we go to get him up from naps! He doesn't like his pacifier at all. He prefers to suck the middle two fingers on his left hand or his right thumb.
Malachi continues to be a great big brother. He likes to show Elliott what he's playing with, make him laugh with funny faces and read books with him. He's also started including him in our conversations and games. He talks in his "Elliott voice" to let us know what Elliott is thinking and what he wants!

We go to the doctor on Monday for his 4 month check up so we'll find out then how our little guy is growing!
