Weekend Fun

Last weekend was full of fun that started with Yaya arriving on Thursday evening and then an early dismissal for Malachi on Friday. Our routine on early dismissal days is for Malachi's friend, Carson, to come home with him for a few hours while his mom works. Because Erik also had the day off we decided to explore a little and ended up at the base of Copperas Mountain. The boys had a blast playing around and throwing rocks in the creek.

Night Moves 2013

Last Friday I ran in the Columbus Night Moves 5k, sponsored by March of Dimes, with my friends Christina and Amy. We were very excited to all finish under 30 minutes! Erik was a wonderful supporter, but hopefully his injury will heal soon so he can cheer us on next time while he's cooling down instead of from the sidelines.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Jonas!

Our baby is two! Although if you ask him how old he is he holds up all five fingers and says, "fwee!"
We had a fun day together yesterday beginning with baby dedications at church. Both Jonas and Oliver were dedicated. We went to Blake and Kimberly's for pizza afterwards. We did sing happy birthday and have cupcakes for Jonas, and the boys gave him a couple presents, but we're really waiting to celebrate next weekend with Yaya.

Last night we hosted the family cookout for the entire church at our house. It was so much fun with about 150 people, lots of hot dogs and hamburgers, s'mores, games and even a wheelbarrow race. We feel very fortunate to have the space to host so many people and loved spending time with our church family. We're already looking forward to making it an annual event!

Phase 2

Phase two of my kitchen mini-makeover began last Friday evening. I am so excited about it and love the way it changed how everything looks! There are just a few minor touch ups and details to finish before I can show the before and after of our kitchen and dining areas.

Kitchen Mini-Makeover

For a while now I've had a few ideas of how I'd like to update our kitchen/dining area and they are finally being put into action! Phase one included building a window seat in the bay window area. We had some pretty great contractors on the job and they whipped it out in two evenings. I still need to do a few finishing touches, but so far I'm liking the new area. Phase two begins this week so more updates will be coming!

Weekly Update

This week our fall schedule begins. We've eased into things with school starting, then babysitting, then Cub Scouts and now life groups start this week. We are gonna be busy...especially on Mondays as I am co-leading a life group for moms in the morning and Erik is leading a running life group that I'm also part of in the evenings. The boys get to hang out with Grammy Litter and Aunt Laura on Monday evenings which is a special treat for them too. Even though it doesn't quite feel like fall yet, we're getting into the spirit with mums, football (on tv, in the backyard, in the living room, etc.) and some other cookouts and parties coming up. It's my favorite time of year and I think we're going to make this season the best yet!

Here are a few snapshots of the past week and what we've been up to:

Friends

The other night we enjoyed some time with friends. It's amazing how the kids add up these days. If you would have told me there were 50 kids there I may have believed you at times! We are so fortunate to have such an amazing group of friends. Even when it gets crazy we still love being together and having fun!

Fun Days

We have had some fun adventures lately. I mean, who doesn't have this much fun at Home Depot?! I am in the middle of a little kitchen spruce up so I needed to check out some tile and I took a pretty good babysitter along to occupy the boys while I was shopping. They had so much fun, even though a few of the workers were less than thrilled with them riding along.
We ate at a local BBQ place afterwards and the boys were VERY excited to see some A&M memorabilia. Jonas tried his best at Gig 'Em!
